Easter has come and gone, the daffodils are in full bloom and the biggest sign that summer is on its way is here – the crab houses in St. Michaels have opened for the season! Anyone who has ever visited Maryland’s eastern shore knows that there is no greater pleasure than sitting on a deck, looking out over the beautiful Chesapeake Bay, cracking open a dozen crabs. Five Gables Inn is located in the heart of St. Michaels, withing walking distance to two great waterfront crab houses. Located on Navy Point, The Crab Claw restaurant is within walking distance from both Five Gables Inn and the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. This restaurant is perfect for an early dinner of shellfish and beer. Sounds delicious! Also within walking distance is The Crab House, located on Mulberry Street is a casual restaurant with great tables overlooking the bay. They are known to have great crabs and fresh oysters, and are the perfect destination for tired feet after walking around St. Michaels. Neighborhood Spotlight: Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum

Located just down the street from us at 213 North Talbot Street lies one of St. Michaels greatest resources and most interesting attractions, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. From an active boat yard to public programs and exhibitions, there is something for everyone to see and learn at the Museum. They are busy gearing up for a busy spring, starting with a concert by Judy Cook on Saturday, April 10th called “Songs of Women and the Sea.” In May they have an exciting Maritime Model Expo, which includes radio-controlled models powered by steam, battery and wind. This event, held Saturday, May 22nd, will have plenty of activities for children, too!

Bay Bridge Boat Show – April 22-25

Thinking of joining us on the eastern shore for the world famous Bay Bridge Boat Show? We’d love to have you stay with us! With adult tickets costing just $12 dollars, and children’s tickets costing just $4, it is the perfect outing for any boating family! Not an experienced boater? No problem, sign up for the “Take the Wheel” educational seminar, which teaches novice boaters how to safely operate a boat, and even takes you on an introductory ride! Not a serious boat owner, no problem! They have extensive displays of smaller boats, such as kayaks, canoes and inflatable’s and small sailboats.
